Educator resources

We have many resources available for educators and homeschool parents for grades pre-K – 12. Our collection enhances teacher and student resources already available through the school system.

We can pull books and have them ready for your students. Please fill out the  assignment form and e-mail it to info@medinalibrary.org. You can also fax the form to 585-798-4398. We will do our best to have resources ready and available for your students. In addition to the resources below, many informative online  collections and databases are available from our website.

Any staff member can assist with questions or finding materials.

Educational Resources

Magazines: We currently subscribe to Ask, Click, Honest History, OYLA, and National Geographic Kids.

Online Teaching Activities: Consider the Source New York. Teach NYS history with historical records.

Home Schooling

We offer monthly programming for Homeschooling families. Each month focuses on a different theme to enrich your child’s education and joy of learning. This program is always offered on a Wednesday at 11am. Check our calendar for more information.


Exam Proctoring

Staff are available to proctor exams for all students. Please call to arrange a date and time. We will reserve a meeting room with internet access for your exam. We have proctored college exams and professional licensure exams for adults as well as secondary school exams for homeschoolers.


Technology

We currently circulate 5 hotspots, 6 Samsung Galaxy tablets, 5 Chromebooks, 10 laptops, and 3 IPAD’s. Now you can take your learning on the road with you! All technology must be borrowed from and returned to Lee-Whedon Memorial Library. Each item can be borrowed for 2 weeks.


Resource Kits

We have resource lists for  Parenting ResourcesOnline Math Help, and  Online Databases available as PDFs.

We have 7 Discovery Kits for at home STEM activities. Our current themes are Biodiversity, Brain Building, Astronomy, Birdwatching, Engineering, Simple Machines, and Geocaching. Kits are appropriate for children ages 5+ with supervision. Some kits include binoculars, a gps unit, drone, etc that will need an adult’s assistance for safe use.

We have 6 Little Learners kits for young children. Current themes are Alphabet, Colors, Shapes, Numbers, Wild Animals, and Farm Animals. Each kit includes a music CD, Board Books, and other small items about the theme.

We have 18 Resiliency kits for use in teaching social emotional learning. Each kit contains a variety of manipulatives, books, and activities for children ages 4+. Kits are intended for use by a parent/guardian with a child.

Kits cannot be sent through interloan services. All kits must be picked up and dropped off at the Medina library. 

Classroom kits

We have story-based kits and book discussion kits. Story-based kits include picture books, activities and more. Book discussion kits include multiple copies of a chapter book, a folder of activities and more. These kits are owned and kept at NIOGA so please allow time for us to receive your kit, a minimum 1 week. Call or e-mail the library for more information.
